The Sanchaya is at once a wonderful combination of old world charm, understated elegance, sublime cuisine and cheerful hospitality that creates a tranquility hard to find anywhere in Asia. And it's only an hour from Singapore!

Jean-Paul Maunick

Let me introduce myself… My name is Jean-Paul Maunick but I am more commonly known as Bluey and I am the leader of the British Jazz Funk band Incognito. I travel the world for most of the year and I am fortunate to enjoy some of the best hotels this planet has to offer.
In my quest for the ultimate hotel, boxes are ticked for style, comfort, cleanliness, privacy, food standard, quality of pool and wellness amenities, spa and relaxation service, splendour of location and view. If you are looking for a completely unique and luxurious experience that you will want to repeat... "I whole heartedly recommend the Sanchaya on Bintan Island. It is quite simply inspirational”.

The Sanchaya Bintan Resort is an amazing and magnificent hotel. I love the uniqueness of this property, beautifully decorated large suites, extremely comfortable with spectacular breath-taking sea views. With a good balance of personalised attentive service staff who are excellent and responsive to our needs. The spa treatments were amazing too. The food was really good, breakfast was divine with a large selection and variety. Other restaurants served a good variety of cuisines; consistently fresh, tasty and high quality food.

The resort is extremely convenient for a short getaway from Singapore with only a 45 minute ferry ride. Upon arriving in Bintan, we were led to the private lounge offering us a refreshing cold welcome drink and hassle free check-in at the pier. After which we were escorted to the VIP pick-up service from the ferry terminal to the resort which expedites everything. We really enjoyed our stay at The Sanchaya which made our enjoyment and relaxation so easy to achieve.

I have been to the Sanchaya four times in the past 30 months.

My reasons for revisiting the Sanchaya often are their excellent facilities, such as quality rooms, swimming pool, reading room, excellent surrounding with ocean view etc. On top of those, I love their dining service with an excellent chef and service staff, they are all well trained to serve their guests with their heart which really made me feel relaxed and able to unwind. I hope to revisit the Sanchaya soon.

Not so long ago I had the good fortune to spend a memorable night at the Sanchaya, attending a musical soiree featuring Bluey Maunick and several of his fellow band members from Incognito. And what a magical experience it was, the combination of beautifully-designed and tastefully-appointed accommodation, fine dining to the highest standards… and of course the location itself, with its stunning sandy beach, which is the real star!

The first word that comes to mind when reminiscing on our escapes to The Sanchaya: bliss. It's hard to believe that such an exquisitely calming respite from busy, everyday life exists a mere 45 minute ferry ride from our home in Singapore. My wife and I have now spent several birthdays and anniversaries luxuriating in the quiet elegance of this beautifully curated resort. From the moment of our arrivals until our sad departures, the staff has always been attentive to every nuance yet unobtrusive to our privacy. The grounds and the suites and villas strike the perfect balance between luxuriousness and comfortable elegance. From the sumptuous, freshly made-to-order breakfasts with Indonesian herbal juices offered to you table-side, to the poolside Thai lunch offering and the candle-lit romantic seaside dinners, the level of cuisine that the chefs of Sanchaya offer leaves you wanting for nothing.

There is so much to explore within the resort itself that with every visit we find something new to enjoy. Visits to the Spa, a proper English game of Croquet replete with fresh strawberries and a cold pitcher of Pimms, and masterfully crafted cocktails in the gorgeously throwback explorers-themed bar and library are just some of the offerings that make our stay that much more special.

For us, with every visit, the worst aspect of coming to Sanchaya is never wanting to leave.

Sanchaya took my breath away. Never has an experience been so beautifully curated and yet so free and in tune with its stunning surroundings. The staff never failed to bring a smile to my face. It will always have a special place in my heart.

I'm still blown away by the beauty you created at The Sanchaya....from the flowering grounds to the delicious food, and the comfortable elegant decor to the most comfortable beds and sheets I've ever slept in, and the kind and gentle staff, the vibe is perfection. I did yoga under an open canopy with trees all around and birds chirping with a gentle ocean breeze coming through...and then a soft rain sealed the practice while in shavasana and I was at peace. ;)

For me, the Sanchaya evokes creativity. On my numerous visits there I have been witness to fantastic live music, exciting video shoots and curated cultural evenings. The old world setting reminds me of a time when good books and deep conversations were valued and when a premium was placed on the wandering, creative soul. The Sanchaya does everything possible to nurture that creative soul. It is truly a place where you can let your mind and heart run free.
